Tourist Wallet

Tourist DigiPay is a wallet experience designed for international visitors using Bitkub. The feature allows tourists to deposit crypto from external wallets or exchanges and use their balance to pay merchants in Thailand through QR code payments, similar to how local users pay with Thai digital wallets.

The goal was to enable tourists to participate in Thailand’s QR payment ecosystem without requiring a local bank account.

The Challenge

Thailand’s QR payment infrastructure is widely used by locals, but international visitors typically cannot access these systems because they lack local banking services.

Tourists visiting Thailand often hold crypto assets but have limited ways to spend them directly with local merchants.

The challenge was to design a wallet experience that allows tourists to deposit funds and seamlessly pay merchants using the same QR payment system used by local users.

Problem statement

  • Enable QR Payments for Tourists: Allow international users to pay Thai merchants using the same QR payment flow used by local digital wallets.

  • Simplify Crypto-to-Payment Flow: Allow tourists to deposit crypto into Bitkub and convert it into a spendable wallet balance.

  • Provide Clear Wallet Visibility: Ensure users can easily track balances, spending limits, and transaction history.

  • Integrate with Existing App Systems: Design the feature to work alongside existing domains such as wallet, trading, transaction history, and KYC verification.

Design goals

Product Challenges

Bitkub Ecosystem

One of the main challenges of this project was coordinating across multiple parts of the platform.

The Tourist DigiPay wallet touches several domains of the Bitkub ecosystem, including:

  • Wallet balances

  • Transaction history

  • KYC requirements

  • QR payment infrastructure

  • External wallet deposits

Designing the experience required aligning with multiple product owners to ensure the wallet behaved consistently with existing trading and payment systems.

The Design

The Tourist DigiPay wallet provides users with a simplified dashboard showing:

  • Current wallet balance

  • Monthly spending availability

  • Merchant transaction limits

  • Quick actions such as transfer, QR payment, and history

This allows users to quickly understand how much they can spend while traveling.

Tourist Wallet Dashboard

Tourists can pay merchants by scanning QR codes, using the same payment infrastructure used by local Thai wallets.

This allows international users to participate in Thailand’s existing payment ecosystem without needing a local bank account.

QR Codes Payment

Users can move funds between their Bitkub wallet and the Tourist DigiPay wallet.

Key flows include:

  • Transferring funds into the tourist wallet

  • Transferring funds back to the Bitkub wallet

  • Confirming transfers and viewing fees

This provides flexibility for users managing their travel spending.

Wallet Transfers

The order management system was designed to support web, mobile web, and mobile applications, ensuring traders can monitor their orders across devices.

Mobile layouts were adapted using:

  • card-based transaction views

  • expandable order details

  • simplified filtering interactions
